Balearic Breakfast | Episode 13 | The lost Milky Way...

Worldwide FM broadcast the 13th episode of Balearic Breakfast on November 24th 2020.

Listen back to the 13th episode of Balearic Breakfast :

Sometimes, I get very emotional when listening to some of Balearic Breakfast's Shows. You may wonder why. I think the best answer I could give is that they encapsulate emotions both of the hard times and good times we were living back then. This show is an absolute emotional roller coaster: as Colleen puts it at the beginning of the show, it is a “Very cosmic edition of Balearic Breakfast”, which is very well represented in the music and Colleen's mixing. But it is also an emotional trip because of Colleen's daughter's birthday (she turned 16 back then), making us all remember that time flies and that the time that was taken away from us because of the pandemic would never be retrieved. Sure, we were fortunate to be all together, but a lot of us were starting to get emotionally fragile because we could not live normal lives or meet friends. Some people were also losing their companies because they could not work... 2020 was a horrendous year on many levels, and these few lines serve just as an incomplete reminder of what we all went through. And believe me, it was tough.

So, at the end of this show, despite its intrinsic beauty, the Balearic Breakfast family felt somewhat "rattled" and Colleen's speech, as always, depicts that overall feeling very well. Musically speaking, the show had magical moments where you could drift away and head over to the sky and lose yourself inside the milky way... Also, I do not know a lot of other DJs that would be able to let their love breathe out the way Colleen did when she talked about her daughter's birthday... (listen to the moment she launches Ashford & Simpson's "Babies", can you feel it ?...)

So yeah, this show was special and one that still gets me emotional today. This is why I feel like sharing this quote with you. I am sure that you will understand the feeling...

All men have stars, but they are not the same for everyone. For some, who are travellers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems... But all these stars are silent. You, you alone will have stars as no one else has them... In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night... You, only you, will have stars that can laugh! And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me... You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, just for that moment... It will be as if, in place of the stars, I had given you a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh...
