Worldwide FM broadcast the 16th episode of Balearic Breakfast on December 15th 2020.
The world was taking a gasp of air on this cold Tuesday as, in almost all cities of the world, restrictive measures had been lifted, allowing people, friends, and families to prepare for Christmas. Yet, no one was really happy, I very vividly remember that feeling of uncertainty lingering in all I was doing. It was a difficult time as we all had news about hospitals trying to cope with the global pandemic with more people dying because of Covid coming in...
It is with these memories still present in my mind that I listened to this show, the 16th of the series. From the start, I felt that only a cold, snowy, windy and abandoned beach was an acceptable representation of it... Once again, the Balearic Breakfast's Family magic operated as Colleen mixed the requests...

“With luck, it might even snow for us.”
― Haruki Murakami, After Dark, 2004
As always, Colleen is on top of the game, she even prepared the wonderful wreath you can see on the second picture of the gallery for us! Isn't that great? That beautiful gift sure did warm our cold hearts back then, I can tell you!
Also, as Colleen earlier suggested, she kept on playing new music in the course of the show, introducing us here to The Aspphodelis & Friendly Fires' track "Velo" which would end on the first Balearic Breakfast vinyl compilation later in 2021!
"Thanks to all of you for your contributions. It has beentruly mind blowing and I have discovered and rediscovered a lot of great music. I'm also taking a fairly open minded approach to what constitutes Balearic Music - almost like a jazz approach - open ended and free. I don't want it to be solely a nostalgia trip so from time to time I will introduce new music that I feel works."
Colleen, Instgr., 27/09/2020
Lastly, and on a more positive note, I found that the beautiful track "Pyramid" by The Fantastics ! was very close in spirit to some tracks of the "Blue Pyramid" album by Johnny Hodges and Wild Bill Davis issued in 1965 (another Jazz masterpiece you really should consider listening !).
