Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy broadcast this new episode of Balearic Breakfast on her Mixcloud on July 7th, 2026.
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
To our dear Friend, Barry...
And to everyone in the Family facing tough times...
Sometimes, we're lost for words. Life's reality hits us and leaves us bleeding, there, somewhere, on the ground. Without any more hope, we get up and wander along, hoping in our deepening and somehow never-ending despair, that something, somewhere will somehow show us a way out of the maze, out of the dark, out of grief... These new times will maybe arrive, one day, without us even noticing it, but even if they do, we'll carry the hurt, the loneliness and the doubts forever in our souls, and never again will we have the same smile, the same kind of hope, but resilience will be our new home... What else can be said... Sometimes, we're lost for words...
Do you know the warm progress under the stars?
Do you know we exist?
Have you forgotten the keys to the Kingdom?
Have you been born yet and are you alive?
Let's reinvent the gods, all the myths of the ages.
Celebrate symbols from deep elder forests.
[Have you forgotten the lessons of the ancient war?]
We need great golden copulations.
The fathers are cackling in trees of the forest
And our mother is dead in the sea.
Do you know we are being led to
Slaughters by placid admirals,
And that fat slow generals are getting
Obscene on young blood?
Do you know we are ruled by TV?
The moon is a dry blood beast.
Guerrilla bands are rolling numbers
In the next block of green vine,
Amassing for warfare on innocent
Herdsman who are just dying.
O great creator of being,
Grant us one more hour to perform our art
And perfect our lives.
The moths and atheists
Are doubly divine and dying.
We live, we die
And death not ends it.
Journey we more into the Nightmare.
Cling to life, our passion'd flower,
Cling to cunts and cocks of despair.
We got our final vision by clap.
Columbus' groin got
Filled with green death.
(I touched her thigh and death smiled.)
We have assembled inside this
Ancient and insane theatre
To propagate our lust for life
And flee the swarming wisdom of the streets.
The barns are stormed,
The windows kept,
And only one of all the rest
To dance and save us
With the divine mockery of words.
Music inflames temperament.
(When the true King's murderers
Are allowed to roam free,
A thousand Magicians arise in the land.)
Where are the feasts we were promised?
Where is the wine,
The New Wine.
(Dying on the vine.)
After playing at the Love Supreme Festival, Colleen takes us on a new musical journey, starting with a very pictorial piece of music (close your eyes, you should be able to see a river...), announcing a reflective, always unexpected, and 'indirectly' soothing episode... And I really mean 'indirectly' soothing here, as a lot of the songs played in this episode clearly present the troubles life puts in our way, our doubts, and still, somehow, music soothes us...
Oh, Baltimore, ain't it hard just to live...
Listen back to episode 26-26 of Balearic Breakfast:
This morning’s Balearic Breakfast is now up on my Mixcloud for listening back. Today’s morning radio show features some new music including the latest from New Zealand’s Flamingo Pier a cut from Danny McLewin forthcoming compilation, Daisybelle new EP on Okay Nature , Gabriele Poso new album and new tunes on MB Disco and Afroterraneo Music - I hope you will enjoy.
Although this year’s July 4th celebrations should have been monumental in celebrating 250 of independence from the British monarchy, it felt more subdued and reflective and even a bit sad due of the current socio-political situation and a president who behaves as if he is king. In ode to ‘Independence Day’ I played ‘An American Prayer’ by Jim Morrison with music by The Doors, my first favourite band. Morrison’s poem about sacrificing magic for materialism not only suits the current mood in The States but around the world. I hope this morning’s show brings a bit of magic into your life. Thanks for listening.
