ABOUT THIS EPISODE
I love it when the first songs played by our beloved captain show me a path, intellectual ideas I can gather into a narrative I can explain and defend. Today, I quickly felt that, because of the world's situation (wars, political unrest, demonstrations, etc.), we were all standing on the edge, as if something were about to happen...
The first selected requests Colleen played have that sense of "losing it to the unknown"... Although they're calm (and somehow reflective) numbers, they hold that "What is happening" feeling; they do hold that lingering question, that uncertainty... We're on the edge, standing there, unsure about what to do, unsure about how to behave, looking out there, searching for a future we somehow dislike, fearing its cold grip could destroy us and the love we try to keep there, inside, somewhere...
Today's episode is marked by the tribute Colleen paid to the late (and absolutely great) Juan Atkins. We all deeply enjoyed the musical tribute our captain did!

This morning’s Balearic Breakfast is now up on my Mixcloud and thanks to everyone who contributed song suggestions. This time of year has an aura of reflection and many of you chose introspective pieces that ease us into the program. There’s also some great reworks by Follow The Sun, Psychemagik and Pete Blaker, some tunes that reflect the anxiety many of us feel about today’s American midterm elections (C’mon America!) some Latin and percussive house groovers and of course a couple of songs in tribute to the late Juan Atkins - a true musical pioneer and legend in the truest sense.
