Balearic Breakfast | Episode 26-36 | Can't You See Me?

After hosting an incredibly powerful and life-reaffirming Loft Party in London, where she did meet a few members of the Balearic Breakfast Family, and just before heading to the US, Colleen presented this 36th episode of Balearic Breakfast. Although the request line wasn't posted this past weekend, the Family eagerly waited to discover Colleen's selections and some of the new songs and tracks that went out recently!
As you'll hear, this episode acts like a kind of "revelation", with every track depicting unsure pictures, complex musical layers and uncertain musical structures, which is very much the case, for instance, with the first three songs, 'Tanglewood', 'The Wind and the Forest' and 'Do What You Gotta Do' (listen carefully to the lyrics by the way 😉).
I must admit I let you down lately, I'm sorry, as I wasn't able to analyse the shows as I did before, but hopefully I'm back on track with this one... Sakura Murakami's 'Fruits of Life' adds to today's themed show, as we feel the very pictorial astonishment of someone discovering what life can unveil...
There's generosity lying in the first half of today's episode, through the questioning and the uncertainty; something, someone, somewhere is asking, Can't You See Me? And this question, which also allows some kind of "affirmation" if I can put it that way..., is asked at different levels with different answers and visuals in every song... (David Walters' Kryè Mwen, a classic which the Balearic Breakfast Family loves to bits, is a great example of that as the song is all about unconditional support, reassurance, and guiding somebody out of hard times into a better place)... Well, Can't You See Me?...
In any case, while you're enjoying Colleen's revelatory mix, don't forget that on Tuesday, the 10th November, Classic Album Sundays will be holding a record release party at Hidden Grooves for the next edition of Balearic Breakfast Vol.V. and, this time, Colleen will be on the other side as she'll be interviewed by Andy Thomas, a fabulous writer who also wrote the liner notes for the compilation. There will be records for purchase and Colleen will also do a signing while the album plays over Hidden Grooves’ lovely hifi. The event is free but space is limited and must be reserved in advance.

Today’s show is a tad shorter than usual just because I was so exhausted after our London Loft party which is an 18 hour day for some of us! But it was such a healing party and thank you to our entire London Loft family and all who joined us on the dance floor to see in autumn. The equinox certainly radiated the feeling of reflection.
And reservations for the Balearic Breakfast 5 release party are going quickly. Its on the 10th November at Hidden Grooves HiFi Lounge in Shoreditch and reservations are free but space is limited (link in my bio).
I’m away in the USA for the next few weeks (tour dates on my socials) so covering over the next few weeks we have Random House Project, Rainer Truby, Lil Minx, Flamingo Pier, Sophie Callis of The Boatpod and a Balearic Breakfast family mix from Sue Forrest. That means I’ll be streaming at 5am from the East Coast and will be hanging out on the chat.
